D3-Iron Immunity!
Vitamin D, also known as the “sunshine vitamin,” is a fat-soluble vitamin produced in the skin after exposure to sunlight. Old age, overweight, lack of fish in the diet, limited exposure to the sun while using sunscreen, doing most activities indoors, are just some of the common risk factors that can lead to vitamin D deficiency.
Unlike other vitamins, vitamin D works like a hormone and every cell in the body has a receptor for it.
Vitamin D deficiency is common, with an estimated 21% of the world’s population having low levels of vitamin D.
Most people don’t realize they have vitamin D deficiency because the symptoms are generally subtle, even though they have a negative impact on health: excessive fatigue, bone pain, lack of calcium in the body, depression, poor wound healing, skin conditions, hair loss and a weakened immune system.
Long-term vitamin D deficiency can lead to complications such as: cardiovascular disease, infections, autoimmune problems, neurological disease, pregnancy complications, certain cancers (breast, prostate and colon).
The most recommended form of vitamin D is vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol. This is the natural form of vitamin D that your body synthesizes from the sun’s rays.
