Boswellia seratta also known as Indian Frankincense (Indian Frankincense) is part of the Burseraceae family along with Boswellia sacra and 27 other species.
It has been used since ancient times as an Ayurvedic remedy for treating inflammation and joint pain.
To harvest the tree’s resin, an incision is made in the trunk from which the concentrated essence is extracted. Once exposed to air, it hardens. The incense is then distilled at controlled temperatures, a complex process that requires constant supervision.
Boswellia serrata essential oil has been included in numerous studies, its antibacterial effect being significant against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
It also inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, according to the study by Rashan et al. : Boswellia Gum Resin and Essential Oils: Potential Health Benefits.
Specialized medical studies have also revealed the benefits of Boswellia serrata essential oil on inhibiting the development of various fungal strains, such as Malassezia spp. Candida albicanis and Trichophyton spp.
Boswellia serrata essential oil supports the repair of articular cartilage by reducing wear and restoring synovial fluid, relieves pain and stiffness due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties.

ADMINISTRATION:
» For internal use, diluted with honey or cooking oil:
Adults: 2-3 drops 2 times a day. The dose is mixed in a teaspoon of honey (diabetics: a quarter teaspoon of cooking oil). Use for 7-14 days.
Can be repeated after a 2-week break.
» For internal use, in empty vegetable capsules:
Administration in capsules allows for better assimilation of the oils, as they reach directly into the stomach where they act at the gastric level. Open an empty vegetable capsule, insert the essential oil with the syringe/dropper together with the edible oil according to the instructions on the leaflet, and close the capsule. It is recommended to swallow the capsules immediately.
» For external, topical, diluted use:
To avoid discomfort, drying and irritation of the skin, or even rapid evaporation of essential oils, it is recommended to apply them together with almond or argan oil. In massage therapies, it is recommended to use it diluted in oils with a more solid consistency.
Do not apply to open wounds, irritated skin or sunburn. Test a small amount on a small area of skin first.
» Aromatherapy, inhalations:
Used in ultrasonic diffusers and aromatherapy lamps. Cold inhalations are recommended for relaxation, or hot (1-3 drops).

- not to be compromised by external organic matter
